The Memoria Collective
conducted by Elique Curiel
The Memoria Collective brings together a mosaic of artists from Suriname, Curaçao & Cape Verde into a harmonious chorus of commemoration and celebration. Conducted by Elique Curiel, a medical doctor as well as a musical artist, the collective embodies the spirit of unity amidst diversity.
The very name “The Memoria Collective” resonates with the essence of remembrance, emanating from the Papiamentu language where “memoria” encapsulates memory and homage. With influences from diverse backgrounds converging, the choir serves as a beacon of resilience and reflection, urging us to honour our shared past while embracing the promise of tomorrow.
Crafted specifically for a one-time performance on the iconic stairs of the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam alongside Julianknxx, this exclusive event offers a momentous opportunity to stand together in unity, weaving a tapestry of reflection, sound and celebration that echoes long after the final note fades.
