Stephen Tayo

Stephen Tayo is an autodidact fashion, art, and culture photographer who uses his work as a platform to offer social commentary on wealth, class, race, gender, and identity. Influenced by his undergraduate studies in philosophy and interest in contemporary anthropology, fashion, and social justice, he adopts a multidisciplinary approach to portray the idiosyncrasies of everyday life in Nigeria. Embracing his surroundings as his photography studio, Tayo creates art that is as impactful and thought-provoking as it is beautiful.

Stephen Tayo is een autodidact mode-, kunst- en cultuurfotograaf die zijn werk gebruikt als platform om sociaal geëngageerd te reageren op rijkdom, klasse, ras, geslacht en identiteit. Beïnvloed door zijn bachelorstudies in filosofie en interesse in hedendaagse antropologie, mode en sociale rechtvaardigheid, hanteert hij een multidisciplinaire aanpak om de eigenaardigheden van het dagelijks leven in Nigeria,  en daarbuiten, weer te geven. Doordat hij zijn omgeving als zijn fotostudio omarmt, creëert Tayo werk dat zowel impactvol is en tot nadenken stemt als esthetisch is.
