Shigeo Arikawa
Shigeo Arikawa is an artist and filmmaker from Tokyo, Japan based in Amsterdam who produces films, video installations, and photographic works. He was a resident at Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten in 2014-2015.
In a world where uncertain information shakes people’s recognition and desires, sometimes causing errors, his works aim to question the meaning of ‘seeing’ by deliberately interrupting and agitating the human act of trying to understand and give sense to what we see.
His films have been screened at film festivals worldwide, including the International Film Festival Rotterdam, the Vancouver International Film Festival, and the Hong Kong International Film Festival. He widened his activity in Japan, his works have been exhibited in the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo, and the Hiroshima City Museum of Contemporary Art, among others.
