Mirre Yayla Séur
Mirre Yayla Séur’s (born 1991, Amsterdam, the Netherlands) practice centers around a persistent issue of self, of others and how we position ourselves within the outside world. Through her work she tries to understand how something can be itself, and at the same time absorb it’s surrounding.
Weaving together drawings, audio pieces, videos and installations, she aims to evoke questions about the body. But queries about where this body begins and ends are critically remained open. Working with a vast array of materials including glass, metals, sand and textiles, her often installation-based pieces attempt to blend together fragments that reflect and absorb the residual traces of our being.
