Martijn Maiwald
Martijn (b. 1994) is a photographer whose work explores themes of decay. With a background from the Fotoacademie and a from the University of Amsterdam (UVA) in Artificial Intelligence, Martijn’s work reflects on moments of beauty and stillness amidst life’s inherent meaninglessness.
Having assisted the late Jacqueline de Jong—an influential artist of the Situationist International movement—he gained valuable insight into the interplay of art, politics, and identity and further developed an interest in working within the arts.
Currently, Martijn works as art handler with Buro Stedelijk, and continues to develop his practice as a photographer.
