Joël Andrianomearisoa
Joël Andrianomearisoa, born in 1977 in Madagascar, is a Paris-based artist who explores diverse mediums to give shape to abstract narratives. He draws inspiration from his Madagascan roots, which reflects in his mixed-media approach incorporating sculpture, installation, craft, and textiles. His works, imbued with complex emotions, are an ongoing series of exercises that consider the aesthetics and architecture of feelings. Andrianomearisoa’s art has been exhibited in leading global institutions such as Hamburger Bahnhof, Berlin, and Centre Pompidou, Paris. In 2019, he represented Madagascar at the 58th Biennale di Venezia. He is also the founder and artistic director of Hakanto Contemporary, a non-profit independent space for artists in Antananarivo, Madagascar.
