Jessica Mitrani
Jessica Mitrani, born in Colombia and currently based in New York, is an artist who makes worlds through performance, theatre, and video. Her work begins at the edge of identity—once tethered to gender, now unraveling into something vaster: the spiritual, the psychological, the barely imaginable. She moves in liminal spaces, where revelation plays with the concealed, offering glimpses without ever giving all away. A conjurer of the in-between, she invites us to look—and to wonder.
Her work has been exhibited, screened, and broadcast at venues like Centre Pompidou (Paris, 2010-2012), Museo de Arte Moderno (Medellín 2019), ARTE1 (Brazil, 2017-2019) La Mama Galleria (New York, 2022), Crossing the Line festival (New York, 2014), Salón Nacional de Artistas (Bogotá, 2019), and Museum of Modern Art (Bogotá, 2021).
Mitrani has collaborated with the Civilians theatre company on productions such as The Undertaking (Brooklyn Academy of Music’s New Wave Festival, 2016), and Sex Variants (NYU Skirball Center, 2024). In 2025, her workshop, The Indiscreet Charm of the Decolonial Dinner Party, was held at the Park Avenue Armory and DIA Art Foundation in New York.
In 2022, Mitrani was invited to the Princeton Atelier as a Guest Faculty Artist. Her work is included in the permanent collections of various institutions, including the Museo de Arte Moderno de Bogotá (MAMBO) and the Museo de Arte Moderno in Medellín (MAMM) in Colombia.
