Iyanla Etnel
Iyanla Etnel (Suriname/Netherlands, 1999) is a visual artist working with film and photography. Her practice explores bodily autonomy, memory, and the quiet traces of colonial exploitation. She moves between generations, between past and present, between visibility and the invisible, and between the body as an archive and the body as a channel. Etnel explores how the Black woman’s body has been shaped, controlled, and exploited over time, but also how it can return to itself.
Her multi-channel film installation Kari Den Fowru Na Oso received the Keep an Eye Award and the HKU Award, and has been presented at Melkweg Expo and AG (Academie Galerie).
