Samuël van der Spek

Samuël van der Spek is a Rotterdam-based theater director and researcher. His practice centers around the intersection of movement and collective experience. As a director, he works primarily within movement-based theatre and collaborative performance, often creating work with young people. As a researcher, he focuses on the changing language of theatre subsidy applications and how shifting political discourses shift and shape the way artists must articulate their work.

He is the current assistant director for Leeway, where also contributes as a performer, and as the impact assessment officer. Alongside this, he develops his own projects with Theatergroep KLUSTER.
