KETI KOTI X ROOTS TO FRUITS

The image research includes graphic archive material of (unrecognised) Black feminists in the Netherlands, women in resistance, and documentary photographs of Keti Koti celebrations and commemorations throughout the decades. The images in the collages refer to this rich landscape of ‘feminist organising’ and are found in Umoja Black Women’s Newspaper, Ashanti Surinamese Women’s Newspaper, International Institute of Social History (IISG), Atria, knowledge institute for emancipation and women’s history in Amsterdam, Library of Congress, Wikimedia Commons.

In het beeldonderzoek is grafisch archiefmateriaal verwerkt van (niet-erkende) Zwarte feministen in Nederland, vrouwen in verzet en Keti Koti manifestaties door de decennia heen. De beelden in de collages verwijzen naar dit rijkelijk gevulde landschap van feministisch organiseren en werden gevonden in Umoja Zwarte Vrouwenkrant, Ashanti Surinaamse Vrouwenkrant, Internationaal Instituut voor Sociale Geschiedenis (IISG), Atria, kennis instituut voor emancipatie en vrouwengeschiedenis in Amsterdam, Library of Congress, Wikimedia Commons.
