The Slope (2023)
by Ola Hassanain – 360 cm x 70 cm / dark clay ceramic
The slope” references the architectural forms for water control through canals of irrigation. This work captures and recreates the pressure of water flow deviations and traces left behind on clay soil. The wet clay holds on to the traces before it seeps through and destabilizes the clay. The work is interested in the temporality of water and clay and what the latter is telling to the first. What happens during the time the clay is soaked by the water?
