#10 Beauty Basics for Queer People

Trans-inclusive makeup workshop by Timothy Paul. Join Caribbean Queer Salon for this live make-up tutorial.

EN

On August 3, Timothy Paul hosts a trans-inclusive makeup workshop at our Studio Space. Over the two hours we seek to ensure a safe beauty space for queer and trans individuals. During the workshop you will get a live makeup demo, tips and tricks for beauty and skin care, as well as a Q&A and food.

Driven by the mantra that beauty has no boundaries, Timothy Paul has made it his mission to make every kind of person look and feel beautiful. His driving force is the belief that beauty should be crafted and accessible to everyone. With this in mind he has always strived to make everyone beautiful, carefully carving out spaces for people who traditionally have been left out of the beauty conversation.

While there is a proliferation of artists currently, Timothy Paul’s signature is carefully crafting the image of a bold, strong and assertive individual prepared for any challenge.

Caribbean Queer Salon is a space born out of a need where people from the English speaking Caribbean can talk openly and honestly about issues that affect them. What does intersectionality and a multidimensional framework actually look like and what does it mean to be black and queer and immigrant in a historically Eurocentric environment? At Caribbean Queer Salon we organize regular meetings and events focused on dialogue and community building. We use this to fill a much needed gap in current queer spaces in which we cater to queer people from the English speaking part of Caribbean.

NL

Every year on the 1st of July we commemorate slavery and celebrate the abolition of slavery: Keti Koti. Since we believe that Keti Koti should be a national holiday, we are closed on the 1st of July. We asked Lydiënne Albertoe to design a graphic work for this particular occasion. The work is placed on the door of our Central Space and the windows of the Studio Space.
