SistaazHood

SistaazHood is a community of trans women sex workers based in Cape Town, South Africa. The peer-led and founded group functions as a support group and as an activist group. Most of the girls are homeless, living under a bridge near Cape Town’s castle. SistaazHood is a support group for trans women sex workers in Cape Town, South Africa. It is a peer-led organization, founded by 5 trans women sex workers. The group currently consists of 37 trans women sex workers from Cape Town. As a community they support one another focussing on health; both physical and mental health.

Furthermore SistaazHood is an activist organization advocating for the decriminalization of sex work and the human & health rights of transgender sex workers. Sistaazhood works in close collaboration with other non-governmental organisations such as Triangle Project, Sex Workers Advocacy Task force (SWEAT) and Gender DynamiX.
