Elif Satanaya Özbay

Elif Satanaya Özbay (NL/TR) is an Amsterdam-based visual artist working across installation, performance, moving image, and script-based forms. Through montage, scenography, and unstable narration, she explores how stories are constructed, transmitted, and transformed over time.

Drawing from horror cinema, archival material, mythology, and popular culture, her work investigates the staging of bodies, histories, and identities within systems of spectacle and visual culture. Using sculptural objects, performative lectures, sound, and installation, she creates environments where fiction and reality blur. Recent projects engage with Circassian mythology, orientalist imagery, horror narratives, and forgotten histories to examine how cultural narratives are preserved, aestheticized, and reanimated.
