Cécile Tafanelli

Cécile Tafanelli is a French artist based in Amsterdam. Her practice moves between music and performance, rooted in questions of displacement, memory, and the body as a carrier of inherited narratives. Trained in Carnatic South Indian vocals, she spent two years immersed in India: a period that left a deep imprint on her work and her relationship to textile crafts. Sarpe grew from that time: a collection of reworked pieces made from original vintage Kantha quilts sourced in India. Each item is unique, carrying the history of the fabric, the artistry of its maker, and the wear that makes inner layers apparent.
