As one of four selected proposals from Buro Relays Open Call, Everything Is Going to Be Okay invites audiences into an intimate one-on-one participatory performance with artist Karmel Sabri.
Taking the form of a personal consultation, the work takes place as twenty individual appointments, each lasting 5–7 minutes. Guided by the participant’s input, Karmel concocts a personalized “cure” — somewhere between ritual, conversation, diagnosis, and performance.
You will first enter a calming waiting room, where enveloping sounds invite you to slow down, settle in, and spend time before or after your appointment. From there, you’ll be invited into a private one-on-one encounter with the artist, where each consultation unfolds in response to your own thoughts, feelings, or concerns.
Somewhere between social art, TikTok doctors, and the simple human need to be heard, Everything Is Going to Be Okay invites you to step into a space where care becomes both performance and conversation. In a city increasingly shaped by transactional care economies and performative rituals, the work does what art does best: imitate life in order to open up a broader conversation around the ways we seek comfort, attention, healing, and connection today.
Participants will be compensated for their time.
