Rubiah Balsem
Advisory Board
Rubiah Balsem is a social architect and the founder of Studio Balsem. She focuses on the vital role that art and culture play in shaping our future society.
“The times are changing and our present systems and institutions need to be revised to adapt to the 21st century society. Art and culture play an indispensable role in this transformation, as they help the current generation to find answers to how they want to shape their future. A future where multiple realities can coexist and where different definitions on leadership, community, success and citizenship are given space.”
In her research ‘Towards new cultural ecosystems’ she explores the importance of ecosystems where citizens are co-creators and artists are actors of positive change, contributing beyond social, economic and cultural capital.
As a strategic advisor, advisory/supervisory board member and ambassador for several cultural organizations, like Cobra Museum, OSCAM, Amsterdam Art, GLUE, she is committed to creating organizations that value and celebrate curiosity and diverse perspectives on culture.
